Freiburg

Freiburg is located in the south-western part of Germany, close to Switzerland and France. It has a population of about 230.000 people and is a traditional old universitytown with about 30.000 students.

Freiburg regards itself as one of the birthplaces of the environmental movement. Freiburg‘s sustainability  process  began  as  far  back  as  the  1970s. Since then Freiburg has become well known for many measurements in the field of environmental traffic policy.

Main goal is to implement an integrated traffic policy, that promotes all modes of environmental friendly traffic and reduces the amount of motor car traffic and the negative impacts of it. Measurements are to promote foot traffic, bicycle traffic and public transport.
